Only in Oregon can you get lost on the way home from amazing tacos and end up on top of Bald Peak! I had today off from school and decided to take advantage of the dry weather to drive out to Aloha to taste the “Barba-queso” tacos at the Tacorriendo food truck owned by my friend Kendra Morato and her husband Danny (3333 SW 198th Ave, Aloha). Kendra has been tantalizing me with pictures of their tacos all summer and I was so glad to finally get out there. What a treat! The taco meat is marinated and then cooked in its own juices for about six hours. Then it is served along with melted cheese inside corn tortillas fried in homemade salsa. I also got the dipping broth (consume) made from the juice of the meat with a little rice and meat added to it. Wow! The flavor was amazing and the textures incredible. It was also so nice and warm to eat on a cold day! As usual, I decided to take the long way home. For some reason, I decided to go the back roads to McMinnville. But I missed a turn and ended up at the Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint. What a treat! The sun was shining and the view of the valley was beautiful. I travelled through Forest Grove and Yamhill, enjoying the farms, farmland, and nurseries. I was having so much fun that I entirely forgot I had tutoring clients late this afternoon. Fortunately, I did end up getting back in time for my tutoring sessions. I’m hoping to save up for electric gloves.
