July 9 - Needles Highway, Wildlife Animal Loop

I am so grateful! I had to take time out to service the bike in Rapid City (already had too many miles) but was still able to get in two awesome rides in Custer State Park. The first one is my favorite - Needles Highway. I did that road twice last year but had someone with me. There is one turn in particular that I was worried about (posted speed of 5mph and they’re not kidding). I was so relieved when I actually did the ride and the curve was not as bad as I remembered it. The photo with the big grin was shot after I made it safely. 😀 Anyway, the scenery was breathtaking. All these huge stone spires and amazing vistas. Also did the wildlife loop. Saw a bunch of deer and some wild mules but missed the buffalo herd. I thought some of you might appreciate a picture from the Black Hills Harley Dealership of a hot 1953 Servi trike with only 103 miles on it in original condition. Apparently they used these bikes in the military and for deliveries. Cost? $99,995. Ouch!
