Talk about an amazing ride! I knew I was in for a treat with the perfect weather and gorgeous vistas. But I had forgotten how awesome the curves and tunnels were on the Iron Mountain Road. Many hairpin turns and at least one that did a complete 360. Then there were the three tunnels, two of which had views of Mount Rushmore. My favorite way to see the monument. My phone camera is not as good as a regular camera but if you zoom in on the close-ups of the tunnel you can kind of see Mount Rushmore in the background. What a treat. My lunch in Hill City wasn’t that great so I didn’t eat much of it and had a piece of homemade pie at the Purple Pie place. Delicious. Closed out the ride with a visit to see the prairie dogs. I think they should be called prairie puppies. They are so cute!
