July 29 - Rocky Mountain National Park

Lodging: Estes Park, CO

I am so excited. Arrived at Estes Park, just outside Rocky Mountain National Park this afternoon. The ride over on the Peak to Peak road was gorgeous. Got to do a little reconnaissance of the park after 5:00 (time designated passes are required before then and mine is for tomorrow). Went to Bear Lake. Beautiful vistas everywhere. But the coolest part was getting a video of a rafter (had to look that up- it means a group) of wild turkeys. There were at least two adults and several little ones. I had to park my bike on the road to get it. But everyone was going slowly so I think it was okay. Turns out I got to snap a great shot of the bike and mountains while it was parked there (see photo). On the way back into town I also got a video of three mule deer. Looking forward to doing the main road through Rocky tomorrow.
