August 25- Otter Crest Loop
Lodging: West Linn, OR
What a refreshing and awesome last day! I left Susanville, CA yesterday morning after wiping some of the ash off my bike. I passed numerous fire trucks on the way out of town and drove through lots of smoke for the third day in a row (see photo of air in Northern CA). My voice has been a little hoarse because of the poor air quality. Got to Creswell, OR last night so I would be ready to get breakfast at my favorite bakery this morning - the Creswell Bakery. When I got on the bike today the air was clean and quite crisp. It was so invigorating. Took the very back roads from Creswell to Florence then turned North up Highway 101. Ate lunch at Pig n Pancake. It is an annual tradition of mine to have the last meal of the trip there. Then went on Otter Crest Loop. It’s really a spectacular way to see the Oregon Coast because it’s a one way road (most of the time), the speed limit is low, and there is hardly any traffic. Great views. Then headed home for dinner with my twins. I feel so blessed in so many ways.
