Colorado has it all - red stone mountains, green trees, blue rivers, curvy roads and abundant wildlife. What a treat. Spent the afternoon at Black Canyons of the Gunnison National Park. The way local Sharon Vann explained it to me is it’s kind of like the Grand Canyon of Colorado. So many spectacular vistas. Drove along the rim and got some pictures at some of the 12 overlook points then decided to also take the “road” down to the bottom of the canyon. Loved the sign at the entry way “warning - extreme grades and sharp curves.” I’ve learned that these signs are a sure fire way to know you’re in for a great ride. Tons of hairpin curves and probably the steepest grade I’ve been on. The view at the bottom was worth it (see photo with reflection in lake). Saw a herd of wild elk and several deer on the way back to my cabin. Looking forward to heading north towards Rocky Mountain National Park tomorrow.
