Soaking up the sun on the Oregon Coast

What a fantastic day! I can’t think of anything better than a great ride with a wonderful friend. Today Teresa Silva and I explored the Oregon Coast. But not before stopping at my favorite bakery to tank up on treats for the day.

Teresa and I intended to take back roads through Marquam and Silverton on our way south to Brownsville and then Creswell. After diverting twice due to closed roads in both Marquam and Silverton we ended up hopping on the interstate about 70 miles north of Creswell. After all, it was most important to get to the bakery and begin our journey to the ocean.

From Creswell we traveled on Camas Swale Road and then Territorial Highway to Veneta and then took highway 126 west to Florence. I love cruising through the twists and turns of the forested area on Hamm Road then leisurely meandering through the small country towns of Hadleyville and Crow before enjoying the gently rolling curves along the Siuslaw River leading west.

After gassing up in Florence we stopped to enjoy the view and some bakery treats on a picnic bench at a beach in Yachats. The sun was out, the seagulls were soaring, and the ocean waves were gently lapping in front of us. I love the way I can park the bike right next to the ocean there and get some great shots of both My Baby and the beach.

From Yachats we headed north to Lincoln City to enjoy more spectacular ocean views, this time at Roads End State Recreation site. The wind had picked up at this point and the air was cooler. But we were able to keep warm with all of our layers and enjoy the incredible view – vast sandy beaches framed by rounded pebbles, driftwood, and beach cottages. It was wonderful to spend the day with Teresa and to enjoy the coast together.
