May 1 - International Female Rider Day
What an amazing day! It was an absolute honor and privilege to share International Female Ride Day with so many beautiful, wonderful women! I have to say I just about teared up with joy driving through the beautiful countryside and seeing two long rows of glorious women bikers in my rear-view mirror. All types of bikers and bikes, all out enjoying the day together. We met up at Latus at 10:00 for donuts and coffee and some social time. I gave a short pre-ride talk at 10:30, describing how motorcycling has positively impacted my life and why I feel so compelled to encourage women in their riding. There was a brief Q and A with some great questions, and then we headed off on our ride. We took back roads through Oregon City and Canby on our way down to the Markum Inn for games and prizes. Latus generously donated four $25 gift cards as well as an Arai helmet, and bags of swag for every lady. Valerie Jean McCarty did a great job organizing and leading the raffle as well as several rounds of motorcycle bingo. After lunch Kelly Webb led some riders back to the dealership while the rest of us took the long way home through Stayton and Aumsville on our way to the Willamette Pie Company. We got some great pictures of the bikes at the Pie Company and ate more food! From there we took highway 99 north back through Canby to the dealership. A sincere thanks to all of my road captains – Valerie Jean McCarty, Kelly Webb, Teresa Silva, and Sandi Saylor Olson. They were so helpful in making the ride safe and fun and giving me great tips along the way. I was truly inspired by the many wonderful women I got to ride with today.
