What a refreshing and delightful day! Headed East about 300 miles from Brookings, Oregon to Lakeview, Oregon. I’m purposely taking the long way to Bend as I want to explore southern Oregon. It was so fun just to bomb down the road with no planned stops and just glide through the curves and take in the view. It was fairly hot through Grants Pass and Medford but the cooler vest did it’s magic and I felt great. I think my favorite part was from when I hit Klamath Lake to Lakeview. The temperature was more moderate and it was such a treat to see farmland after being away from it for awhile. Passed a fire that had been burning for three days (photo with smoke). Apparently the town I’m in is not in danger but a town nearby is (Adel). Have to mention something funny that happened last night- a first for me with hotel rooms and I’ve stayed in hundreds of them. I got to my room and was disinfecting it and pulled back the covers of my bed and found hairs (long and short) all over the inside of the bedding! I called the owner and she insisted the bed was clean but the maid must have lost a few hairs while she was making it. I tried explaining that there were black flecks on the sheets also and there was no way the sheets were clean. She brought me clean sheets (I was scared if I moved rooms the other bed would be dirty also). She refused to come in the room and look at the sheets (probably because of covid). As I was taking off the old sheets a used bandaid fell off of them and I screamed. 😮 She finally admitted that the bed was not okay. I also decided there was no way another room could be worse. So I moved all my stuff to another room. She ended up comping the room for me. I was happy that I ended up with a clean room for free and that she finally acknowledged it wasn’t me that was the problem. The funny thing is that the signage in front of the hotel listed as the top two selling points “new bedding” and “clean rooms.”
